Although in fact the variety is mind-boggling, here you see a 'typical' example of my 'Walls of South India' series. Apart from the two layers of brightly-colored peeling paint (wall paint is forever peeling due to the relentless hot and humid climate), 'lines' characterize this image: the elegant (but partly broken) lines of the natural ventilation grid - this one in the shape of a lotus flower: a popular design -, the lines near the roof (possibly power lines but they may be washing lines as well), and some lines of writing (in Tamil in this case): so many walls have writing of some form on them it's hard to find examples with no writing at all.
